  • I've been enjoying life in Coogee since setting up Coogee Bay Physio in 2015. I’ve been working in a private practice, outpatient Physiotherapy setting for 18 years.

I have a varied clinical interest and specialised skills for rehabilitating orthopaedic surgery cases, chronic neck and back problems, sports injuries, osteoarthritis management, whiplash injury and workplace injuries.

I’m a regular runner along the Coogee to Bondi coastal path. I also enjoy swimming laps across the bay and playing tennis with the kids.

I love spending time in my garage on woodworking projects (currently working on a home made Pilates Reformer). I am also a terrible guitarist. I’m a husband, and proud Dad to three kids 7, 9 and 12 years old

  • We incorporate massage into numerous Physiotherapy treatment strategies, especially during initial phases. Massage effectively alleviates feelings of tension, stiffness, limited mobility, and pain.

While massages can be firm or even intense, they need not be painful to be beneficial. Alongside being an integral part of your Physiotherapy regimen, we also provide massage services for:

    • Promoting relaxation and overall well-being

    • Pre and post-sports performance enhancement

    • Addressing daily discomforts such as tightness and minor aches

  • Joint mobilisation interventions lead to enhanced mobility, reduced pain, and increased confidence in resuming physical activity involving specific joint surfaces in the body.

These interventions facilitate a transition from a "protective" to a "relaxed" state, promoting smoother joint movement and better circulation in joint tissues, muscles, and nerve pathways. This sets the stage for alleviating pain and other symptoms.

Benefits include enhanced flexibility, greater confidence in movement, and pain reduction.

  • We couple our massage and manual therapy interventions with "active" alternatives that empower you to manage your symptoms independently, should the need or preference arise. These include:

    • Static stretching

    • Dynamic stretching

    • Self-Mobilisation

  • In a physiotherapy setting, graded strength and conditioning play a pivotal role in rehabilitation. It's our duty to ensure that you build the appropriate level of strength and control aligned with your stage of recovery. Our goal is to strategically plan your progress so that by the end of treatment, you not only regain your previous level of function but surpass it, ensuring you're fully prepared to return to your daily activities.

  • We know it's important to for you to learn exercises you can do on your own to recover from your injury and to avoid future recurring problems.

We provide you with options to do in your own home, workplace, gym or other preferred exercise setting

  • We inquire about activities that exacerbate or alleviate your symptoms. Understanding how your symptoms react to specific activities enables us to tailor a treatment plan to suit your individual requirements.

Optimal treatment results are achieved when we identify and assist you in adjusting the intensity, frequency, and duration of movement habits or activities that may be contributing to your symptoms. We always take into account:

    • Load Intensity: The level of stress imposed by the activity.

    • Load Frequency: How often the activity is undertaken.

    • Load Duration: The duration for which the activity is sustained.

If you’re unsure of your needs, please feel free to call us. We can discuss your situation and help you decide what to do next.
