It’s our job to ensure that you have an accurate understanding of the cause and prognosis for your problem. When we take the time to explain your condition, treatment plan and anticipated outcomes, you benefit in three ways;
You are better able to participate in the process of deciding how much treatment is appropriate for your injury or pain problem.
You are reassured about the overall trajectory of your recovery. Having some clarity around the time frame for recovery is really valuable.
You gain a benchmark against which you can assess the ongoing value of the treatment we provide.
We always ask about the activities that worsen or ease symptoms. The behaviour of your symptoms in response to a particular activity helps us to structure a treatment plan specific to your personal needs. The best treatment outcomes occur when we identify and help you modify the dosage of movement habits or activities or habits we suspect are driving your symptoms. We always consider:
Load Intensity: How stressful is the activity?
Load Frequency: How often is the activity performed?
Load Duration: For how long is the activity performed?
Joint Mobilisation interventions bring about an improved sense of mobility, decreased pain and improved confidence in your capacity to get active again of the surfaces of a particular joint in the body.
Mobilisation interventions help to trigger a shift from a “protective” state to a “relaxed state”, such that joint motion occurs more easily and joint tissues, muscles and nerve pathways are more easily perfused- setting the scene for a reduction in pain and other symptoms.
Improved confidence in movement
We utilise massage as part of many Physiotherapy treatment plans, particularly in the early stages of treatment. Massage is effective at reducing sensations of tension, tightness, immobility and pain.
Massage can be firm, even heavy… but it doesn’t need to be painful in order to be effective. In addition to forming part of your Physiotherapy treatment plan, we also offer massage services for

We always couple our massage and mobilisation interventions with “active” equivalents that you can do without our direct input. This way, you develop skills for self managing acute symptoms if / when required or preferred.

It’s important that we assess and where appropriate, help you to adjust how you are performing activities that contribute to your symptoms. If we don’t identify and alter these contributory factors, you will face a greater risk of a future recurrence of your problem.
